Darjeeling is a town and a municipality in the Indian state of West Bengal. Located in the Lesser Himalaya at an elevation of 6,700 ft., it is noted for its tea industry, the spectacular views of Kangchenjunga, and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Darjeeling is the headquarters of Darjeeling district which has a partially autonomous status within the state of West Bengal. At 8500 ft, a few kilometers south east of Darjeeling is Tiger Hill. It is the summit of Ghoom, the highest railway station in the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Offering panoramic views of Mount Everest and Mt. Kangchenjunga together; at sunrise, Mount Everest is just visible, however there is no mistaking Kangchenjunga in the morning sunrise. Like waves on an ocean, the rolling west Bengal hills meet the magnificent Kangchenjunga. It was certainly worth losing sleep, rising at 4:00 am to get these photos before breakfast......Available as 8 x 11 or 11 x 17 color or b & w photo on Hahnemuhle Museum Etching Fine Art Inkjet Paper, and each photograph is personally approved and hand-signed by me, the artist.
